So far, Croft Filters have weathered the pandemic restrictions but now the pingdemic is wreaking havoc through many manufacturing companies

Pinged isolating employees and necessary childcare for school year bubbles sent home, have left many companies reeling through a lack of staff which in some cases has led to business closure or lack of essentially skilled staff. For us, a 28% reduction in staff due to isolation, may not have been such a large issue if the staff concerned had not all had the same skill set.

Left without one of the crucial skill sets to punch, weld and form a filter we could not manufacture the filter as usual. To achieve the delivery time needed we sourced an alternative manufacturing solution.

Metal Additive Manufacturing (AM: metal 3D printing) can manufacture complex geometries without tooling. The filter was designed to suit the AM layer by layer construction of the part. AM built the filter in sections and the components were laser welded together to form the final filter, in stainless steel 316L.

This innovation in manufacturing of the conventional part using 3D printing has enabled us to deliver the filters on time to our customers. The pingdemic is disrupting supply chains nationally, we have overcome some of our issues through innovation and no doubt other companies and industries are endeavoring to do the same.
