Throughout 2020, even with the country in the grip of the COVID19 National Pandemic, IMS together with its partner WB Power Services continued to design, manufacture, install and commission their SCR Emissions Abatement Technology for a Large “Water Utility Company” that operates in the heart of the UK to help them comply with the Medium Combustion Plant Directive (MCPD) and Specified Generator Regulations.

The UK based Water Utility Company that serves over eight million customers throughout the Southwest and Midlands Area made the commitment to upgrade existing Diesel-Powered Generators across approximately 15 of their sites, dramatically reducing NOx emissions (>90%) and improving Air Quality.

Upgrading the Diesel Generators across the 15 sites also allowed the Water Utility Company to continue participating within the National Grid “Short Term Operating Reserve (STOR)” Balancing Services Program.

Short Term Operating Reserve (STOR) is the process of creating a virtual power station by aggregating various existing onsite standby generation plants to generate “Clean Green Energy” on demand from existing assets helping the National Grid to provide energy at “Critical Times” of high demand when the electricity network would otherwise be under a huge strain.
