After a number of failed installations, with some only lasting a few weeks, McEwen Mining Inc. had been looking for a pothole repair product that would outperform the current methods used.

The Black Fox Complex is heavily trafficked by mining vehicles all day, every day. The site is also littered with particularly vulnerable areas, such as passing points and areas of turning. The freezing winters and hot summer months, heavy goods vehicles and wear and tear of already weakened spots, meant that McEwen Mining Inc. had struggled to find a pothole repair material that would provide a permanent solution in these extreme conditions.

After careful consideration, and research into alternative repair methods, McEwen Mining Inc. chose to install Instarmac Permanent Pothole Repair® across The Black Fox Complex.

Da-Lee Pavement Products, Instarmac’s Canadian partner and provider of Dust Control services to McEwen Mining Inc., supplied Instarmac Permanent Pothole Repair® and SCJ seal and tack coat spray for the repairs.

Instarmac Permanent Pothole Repair® is a first time permanent pothole repair which has been continuously developed over the past 40 years and used all around the world with excellent results. It is being used on a daily basis in all climates, from the snow bound island of Hokkaido in Japan, to the tropical monsoon hit roads of Malaysia, in the freezing cold Scandinavian winters, the heat of the Namibian desert and the temperate climates of Europe.

There are many cold lay asphalt repair products available, but Instarmac backs up its technical claims. Strength is gained by compaction, becoming stronger the more traffic travels over it, making it perfect for heavily trafficked roads and areas of vehicle turning and braking – the perfect repair product for busy sites such as this one.

Applied in 3 easy steps, Instarmac Permanent Pothole Repair® can be applied in all weathers including hot, wet and cold – it can even be used in freezing temperatures. This innovative material has been independently tested by the British Board of Agrément and is proven to be a quality, flexible and durable solution for first time instant and permanent pothole repairs.

‘Instarmac Permanent Pothole Repair® is so good that we have not had to do any more repairs. We have hauled about 700,000 tons over it and it is like the day we put it in.’ Glenn Elliott, Surface Superintendent.

Instarmac Permanent Pothole Repair® and SCJ are available in Ontario, Canada through Da-Lee Dust Control. To contact Da-Lee please call 905 643 1135 or visit http://www.daleegroup.com.
