Time Keeping - A Precise Art

Optical clocks offer the most precise time-keeping in the world due to improved stability over the microwave clocks

The NPL (National Physical Laboratory) have demonstrated that time keeping can be done to the accuracy of one ten-millionth of a second per century. The counter used to measure this, with incredible accuracy, is a frequency comb.

Laser Quantum has recently launched a 1GHz mode spacing frequency comb, fully stabilised using Menlo Systems XPS800-E electronics, for a complete system providing high resolution results. The taccor comb is an exceptional supercontinuum with typ.1µW per mode and easy access to VIS/NIR ranges.
