AMETEK Solartron Metrology, a recognized leader in linear measurement and dimensional gauging, has introduced its next-generation of Bluetooth®-enabled linear measurement and gauging systems - the WiGauge™(Gen II).

The latest WiGauge™ utilizes class one Bluetooth® technology to transmit data up to 15 meters away. This wireless system allows the operator to test components unencumbered by cables that would typically accompany this type of electronic gauge.

The use of precision hand-held electronic gauging in post process gauging is not new, although the cables used to connect the tools to the receiving SPC system, data logger or printer have long caused problems. The rugged, high-precision WiGauge™ eliminates the need for cable to download measurement data.

The wireless device affords manufacturers greater freedom and flexibility in the design and placement of manufacturing work stations. Its IP65-rated design makes it perfect for demanding factory floor conditions, and is well suited for any manufacturing plant producing precision bored holes such as automotive components.

The gauge operator is notified via visual and audio pass/fail indicators as to whether a machine tool component is to specification. For multiple operator convenience, up to 7 WiGauges can be connected to a single receiver at once, and battery life lasts up to 10 hours. By offering the option of an integral LCD display the WiGauge™ provides additional flexibility.

The WiGauge™ (Gen II) is compatible with industry standard M6 and M10 gauge head threads. The transducer is linear along its full measuring range, making it easy to set up and adaptable for applications other than bore gauging. Resolution is user selectable up to 0.1 µm.

Solartron Metrology is a world leader in design and manufacture of precision digital and analogue dimensional LVDT gauging probes, displacement sensors, optical linear encoders and associated instrumentation. It is a unit of AMETEK, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices with annual sales of more than US$3.3 billion.
