Engineers of the future
Over two days, 80 pupils plus teaching staff were given insights into the exciting world of fluid engineering and first hand access to BHR Group laboratory facilities for demonstrations and experiments.

The visits started with a presentation on what BHR Group does and a general overview of engineering and how vital it is to the modern world. Presentations were given by junior Engineers entitled “A day in the life of an Engineer” followed by senior consultants who gave short fluid engineering presentations to the groups. Our visitors then moved from visual presentations about models to actually seeing the scale models in operation.

In the Lab, the children learned about fluid vortices and conducted buoyancy experiments. The day ended with the announcement of a competition to design a water feature for the BHR Group offices. The winning team will not only receive prizes, but be guests of honour when their design is built and officially opened.

Commenting on the day, Yolande Herbath, BHR Group Strategy Director and key host said, “For us at BHR Group it was a pleasure hosting Cedars Primary School. The teachers reported that the children really loved learning about new things and getting hands-on experience with experiments and demonstrations. We are a community-minded company and it is important for us to reach-out to potential engineers of the future and give them as broad an educational experience as possible. We look forward to welcoming back the winning design team.”
