The VC40 covers the frequency range from 60MHz to 800MHz, making it suitable for a wide range of applications including 4G wireless infrastructure, instrumentation and other high-speed data applications.

To ensure maximum accuracy, the VC40 can be adjusted by as much as +/-100ppm via the voltage adjustment pin, over a tuning range of 0V to 3.3V. Stability is from +/-50ppm over an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.

The VC40 uses High Frequency Fundamental (HFF) technology to generate frequencies up to 230MHz with low phase noise. For higher frequencies, a Phase Locked Loop (PLL) is avoided, and analogue technology is used instead to provide class-leading phase noise and jitter performance. The device operates from a 3.3V supply voltage, and is provided in a compact 14mm x 9mm SMD surface-mount package.

"The VC40 is another example of a market-leading product from Precision Devices, and a demonstration of how the company uses its RF expertise to meet the growing technical needs of its customers," said Bob Swelgin, CEO at Avrio Technologies (Precision Devices' parent company).

The VC40 provides a four-pad LVCMOS (Low Voltage CMOS) output or a six-pad dual complementary output which can be configured to operate at LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signalling) or LVPECL (Low Voltage PECL) levels.

The new VCXO can be supplied in 500 units on tape and reel. It is available immediately from Precision Devices and through distribution and representative partners across the world.
