The appointments, made over the last few months, comes at a time when the clinic is experiencing a surge in new patients seeking treatment for stress-related skin conditions.

Dr Tatiana Welsch, who qualified as a medical doctor in France, brings to the team over five years of dermatology and venereology expertise, acquired during her time at the University Hospitals in Düsseldorf and Aachen in Germany, and at the Chelsea and Westminster University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in London.

Her specialties lie across melasma and pigmentary conditions, psoriasis and treatment with biologic therapy, eczema, acne, rosacea, skin cancers, and dermatological surgery. In addition to her work at the Harley Street clinic, Dr Welsch proudly works as an NHS Dermatologist at the West Middlesex University Hospital.

Joining her is specialised Intensive Care nurse Victoria Lindholt. Prior to joining Dr Haus Dermatology, Victoria looked after trauma patients with multiple burns at hospitals in London and Oslo, in Norway. With extensive nursing experience, she will be assisting the Dermatologists at the clinic during medical procedures.

The new appointments will bring valuable skills and expertise at a time when the clinic is experiencing a surge in new patients seeking treatment for a range of skin conditions, which the clinic ascribes to heightened stress levels triggered by the coronavirus pandemic.

Dr Tatiana Welsh said: “I am delighted to be joining such an established dermatology practice with an excellent reputation within Harley Street. During times of psychological upheaval and anxiety such as these, our skin is liable to be negatively impacted due to heightened stress levels. I look forward to putting my skills to use and be in a position to offer patients the invaluable support that they require during this stressful time. It is an honour to be able to do this as part of such a successful, caring team.”

The links between elevated levels of stress and anxiety triggered by the coronavirus pandemic have been widely documented. Millions of people across the UK are struggling with the stress of the pandemic, the Mental Health Foundation reveals.

Skin, which plays important barrier and immune functions, is directly affected by heightened stress levels . The British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) states that our physical health and our emotional well-being are both closely linked , and this is particularly pertinent when it comes to diagnosing and assessing skin conditions.

Stress has been shown to kickstart inflammation and there are many skin problems that can be triggered as a result. Dr Haus Dermatology specialises in treating many types of these skin conditions, including acne, rosacea, psoriasis, hair loss, alopecia, urticaria, eczema, and generalised skin rashes.

The clinic provides treatments and combination of treatments based on individual needs – and using only the safest proven techniques. Dr Tatiana Welsch and Victoria Lindholt will be joining Dr Ariel Haus and his team of handpicked colleagues, bringing vital expertise to support patients experiencing skin problems during the coronavirus pandemic, and beyond.

Dr Haus Dermatology is located within the Harley Street Medical Area – home to over 5000 medical specialists and over 250 clinics working within 92 acres of Marylebone, central London.
