Integral to the Government’s Exporting is Great campaign; this call to action comes from the Institute of Export (IOE) – whose aim is to professionalise global trade by providing recognised, formal qualifications in international trade.

Its range of courses include a BSc (Hons) Management Practice - International Trade with Plymouth University; an MSc in International Trade, Strategy and Operations in conjunction with the University of Warwick; and a Foundation Degree in Professional Practice in International Trade in partnership with Anglia Ruskin University.

All three degree programmes have a January 2016 intake, while there is rolling entry to the IOE’s certificate and diploma courses – all of which are designed to fit around a full-time career and are delivered through distance learning or part-time and full-time study.

Premier Foods international business manager – Europe, Nick Rowlands, who has achieved the Advanced Certificate in International Trade, said: “Quite simply, the course helped me understand the nuts and bolts of international trade.”

IOE director general, Lesley Batchelor OBE, commented: “As a professional membership body representing and supporting the interests of everyone involved in importing, exporting and international trade, our suite of programmes provide a viable, cost effective and flexible opportunity for higher educational study.

“A student can start with us at the age of 16 and follow our professional accreditations through to an MSc. Providing wide-ranging benefits for employers, our courses meet the needs of all students, regardless of age or experience, by improving job performance and advancing their careers.

“With tutor and mentor support, webinars and online tutorials, they can benefit those already working in international trade, as well as inexperienced learners and students seeking to embark on a business degree.”

The IOE as a professional body regulated by Ofqual in the UK offers recognised, formal qualifications in International Trade. As an Awarding Organisation the IOE provides qualifications within the Government Regulated Qualification Framework. The Institute, working in partnership with others, currently provides qualifications from Level 1 through to Level 4 and 5 Foundation Degrees, and Level 6 BScs.
