he new, luxury hotel has been created by the £28 million, 3-year redevelopment of Coworth Park Estate in Sunningdale which includes the rebuild and fit-out of the Mansion House; the refurbishment of the existing stable blocks and estate cottages to form new guestrooms and suites; the refurbishment and extension to the existing barn to create a new restaurant; and the construction of a new spa and swimming pool designed to complement and preserve the natural beauty of their surroundings.

The Mansion House comprises a series of public rooms on the ground floor, two floors of bedrooms above and a lower ground floor beneath. The Georgian charm of the original house has been enhanced with a distinctly modern flair; there are 30 bedrooms and suites in The Mansion House and each room has extensive views through high Georgian windows out over gardens and parkland. No two rooms are alike and the exquisite furnishings and furniture are a combination of traditional and contemporary.

127 raised & fielded Chippendale Longden door sets were specified for the project in a mix of Lincoln 3-panel, Grosvenor 3-panel, Sussex 4-panel and Buckingham 6-panel styles. Manufactured from high performance materials, the Chippendale range uses solid timber stiles, rails and muntins; hand-made mortice and tenon and wedged joints with a waterproof adhesive ensure maximum durability; up to 60 minutes fire resistance and 30 RwdB sound reduction have been achieved.

Longden door sets combine craftsmanship with modern manufacturing techniques to achieve a perfect balance of style, function and with performance. They can be specified using timber and timber-based raw materials approved by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and exclusively from well-managed and sustainable sources.

Longden has been manufacturing bespoke, solid timber doors for well over a hundred years and many of the UK’s historic listed buildings rely on their expertise and craftsmanship to maintain and preserve their heritage.
