The consolidation brings together specialist scientific expertise, advanced instrumentation and robust quality systems to provide integrated analytical support for pharmaceutical, medical device and combination device manufacturers.
Located at Listerhills Science Park in Bradford, the centre strengthens Cormica’s global laboratory network and builds on the site’s established reputation for analytical chemistry, advanced separation sciences and specialist physical characterisation.
The Bradford team’s more than 20 years of GMP pharmaceutical testing experience now sits alongside Cormica’s medical device chemistry expertise, creating a powerful platform for the rapidly evolving combination device industry. By bringing these disciplines together, Cormica is helping customers generate reliable, regulatory-ready data across the full product lifecycle.
“This is an important milestone for Cormica and for the customers we support,” said Dr Ben Cliff, Chief Transformation Officer at Cormica. “Combination devices in particular require a joined-up understanding of both pharmaceutical and medical device requirements. As drug-device technologies become increasingly complex, manufacturers need testing partners who are able to bridge disciplines. Cormica Bradford is designed to support this need through an integrated approach that connects scientific problem solving with regulatory-focused laboratory delivery.”
The Bradford site supports services including method development and validation, chemical and physical analysis, extractables and leachables, elemental impurities, residual solvents, nitrosamine analysis, particle and solid-state characterisation, cleaning validation and verification, contaminants and foreign body investigations, and GMP quality control testing.
“Our Bradford laboratory has always been rooted in practical scientific problem solving,” said Dr Caroline German, Operations Director at Cormica Bradford. “By consolidating Analytical Chemistry services here, we are creating a centre where pharmaceutical rigour and medical device insight work side by side to support customers developing the next generation of pharmaceutical and combination products.”
The official opening reflects Cormica’s continued investment in specialist testing capabilities and its commitment to improving patients’ lives by helping manufacturers bring safe, effective and compliant products to market without unnecessary delay.
The move also represents an important strategic development for Cormica’s Dover site, Medical Engineering Technologies Ltd. By transferring medical device chemistry services to Bradford, the Dover facility can dedicate additional space, resource and technical focus to its core strengths in physical, functional, transit and packaging testing. This allows MET to further enhance its specialist offering in the areas where it has built a strong reputation, while ensuring customers benefit from clearer centres of excellence across the Cormica network.
