The Denso materials were applied to roofs of the engine room and accommodation block in a recent refurbishment of the North Rona Lighthouse by NG Bailey, who were appointed as contractors for this refurbishment following competitive tender by the Northern Lighthouse Board.

In 1983 Denso Flashing Tape had been used to seal the fibreglass base roof sections of the engine room and accommodation block. As well as being subject to the harsh environment, the Flashing Tape was also being attacked by seagulls who were attracted to the shiny surface of the tape.

Winn & Coales suggested to NG Bailey that the Ultraseal Tape would be a more suitable alternative to provide both the protection required in the North Atlantic environment and also be less visible to the seagulls. The Denso Acrylic Topcoat provided a matt finish to blend in with the colour of the roof to make it less attractive to the Seagulls.
