Large Capacity Turning Is No Problem for Watford Based Firm

With a number of these machines already supplied to customers in the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical sectors both in the UK and overseas, there is also a great deal of interest being generated from customers in other sectors such as aerospace, marine and renewable energy.

The new range is divided into three main categories; ‘Large Capacity – Heavy Duty’ ‘Extra-Large capacity – Oil Country’ and Gate –Eclipse ‘Heavy Duty CNC Lathes’.

The ‘Large Capacity – Heavy Duty’ series features four models with swing over the bed of 660mm, 760mm, 800mm and 840mm, swing in the gap of 930mm, 1030mm, 1070mm and 1110mm, and swing over the cross slide of 410mm, 510mm, 550mm and 590mm. Each machine features a choice of centre distances of 1200mm, 1700mm, 2200mm, 3200mm and 4200mm. There are 2 spindle bore sizes available - 80mm standard and 105mm option. Machines feature; 10HP motor, with 15HP available as an option, Single piece Mehanite grade cast iron beds for superior stability, rigidity and heavy duty machining, Heavy duty 2 step tailstocks, Right hand apron handwheel, Heavy duty 4 position Toolpost, 3-jaw Chuck and 11.5” steady. Rear splash guards, Interlocked chuck guards, Saddle guard, leadscrew and feed shaft covers are also standard features, for safety. Machines over 2M between centres are equipped with Longitudinal and Cross Rapid Feed, also available as an option on shorter bed models.

The ‘Extra-Large capacity – Oil Country’ series features four models with swings over the bed of 960mm, 1120mm, 1130mm and 1600mm, swing in the gap of 1390mm, 1550mm, 1560mm and 2030mm, and swing over the cross slide of 650mm, 810mm, 820mm and 1290mm each with centre distances ranging from 2000mm to 8000mm in 1000mm increments. Longer distances are available on request. Three standard spindle bores are available in this range - 150mm, 230mm and 305mm with larger bores available on request and there is a choice of 24” or 32” bed width for heavier duty machining.

Machines feature; 20HP & 30HP motors as standard, with 30HP / 40HP / 50HP available as options, Single piece Mehanite grade cast iron beds for superior stability, rigidity and heavy duty machining, Heavy duty 2 step tailstocks, Right hand apron handwheel, Heavy duty 4 position Toolpost, 40” Faceplate and 16” steady. Electro Magnetic Braking, Rear splash guards, Interlocked chuck guards, Saddle guard, leadscrew and feed shaft covers are also standard features, for safety. All models in this range are equipped with Longitudinal and Cross Rapid Feed, as standard

Both conventional ranges come with a wide range of optional accessories including:- 3 and 4-jaw hollow spindle chucks, Heavy duty steadies, Taper Turning Attachment, Toolpost Grinder, Hydraulic Copying Attachment, Boring attachment, Rear Toolpost, Quick Change Toolpost with 6 tool holders and a choice of Digital Readout systems from Fagor, Electronica and Acu-Rite are available on request.

The Gate-Eclipse ‘Heavy Duty CNC Lathes’ has five models ranging from 710mm to 1120mm swing over the bed and centre distances of 1500mm and 2000mm to 6000mm in 1000mm increments. Spindle bores of 152mm, 230mm and 305mm are standard options with larger bores available on request.

The CNC range features a choice of industry standard controls like Fagor, Fanuc and Siemens and there are a wide choice of accessories and options available to meet the most exacting of customer requirements. Each machine is built up on a modular basis, so the customer selects from a range of Chucking, Tool holding, Spindle bores, Controls, Steadies, Rear chucking options, Swarf conveyors etc. to provide customer with exactly what they need for their specific application requirements.
