With export hot on the government agenda, Minister for Trade, Lord Green, also attended the show to learn what issues UK companies have regarding export and how the government can help them in the future.

Taking place in Düsseldorf, Germany, between 16-19th November, the event attracted record numbers of delegates with over 137, 000 visitors from almost every country in the world, all with one aim of forging new international business links.

Joining the 4500 plus exhibitors were a number of impressive Yorkshire businesses.

One company who had a successful week was Sunflower Medical. Their first time exhibiting at the show, the Bradford based company showcased their stylish, hygienic and cost effective medical equipment which received rave reviews from a number of global contacts.

Speaking about their successes, Sales Director, Stuart Anderson, said:

“The show was great for us. To have the majority of our international contacts in one meeting place is always a real asset and we made some real quality connections with interest from Ireland to Africa which we’re looking forward to following up.”

Also offering Medica a much needed vitamin boost, Skipton’s Principle Healthcare International was at the event, displaying their vast vitamin and mineral portfolio that feature in leading retail stores across the UK.

With already strong global export links, MEDICA allowed Principle to expand their contact base across Europe and Russia.

Another Skipton based business, Brenmoor, flew out for the show, allowing them to meet clinicians and potential business partners from across the world and discuss their range of patient identifying solutions such as wristbands and blood bag tags, which help hospitals increase patient safety and cut down costs by reducing both clinical errors and bed days.

Sheffmed also had a successful show, offering their cost effective and clinically sound single use solutions to an international audience as well as introducing their impressive new HD surgical light to the market.

Exhibiting for the first time at the show, Managing Director, Alan McNulty was impressed:

“Relatively new to export, we used MEDICA as a springboard for our international activity and spoke to potential business partners from across Europe, the UAE and wider. Now the trick is to convert this interest into orders and keep the momentum going.”
