They reach out and the funds are transmitted electronically to the charities account.

The look of disappointment as all concerned take in the moment and the anti-climax of the transaction.

For many, the humble cheque has been a big part of their lives. From pictorial cheques for personal customers in the 1970’s, through the heady days of the 1990’s when some 4 billion cheques were processed, the introduction of cheque image clearing that speeded up the processing from 6 to just 2 working days, the cheque remains an effective, and very safe, form of payment.

Now picture the charity donation. An oversized cheque being presented clearly demonstrating the exchange and receipt of funds. A tangible and very visual expression of charity in action.

Virgin Money are happy to help organisations illustrate charitable giving through the presentation of a ‘big’ charity cheque.

The cheque has seen a new lease of life following on from the introduction of cheque imaging and the image clearing system. Users are now able to deposit cheques to their accounts using mobile banking apps.

The cheque can still be used as a payment to many organisations, such as charities and schools. A payment that can be made even if the banking portal or app is unavailable.

The TALL Group of Companies, the UK’s leading secure printers of cheques for many of the UK’s High Street banks is proud of its history of producing cheques over the last 30 years. They even printed the cheques that were presented to contestants by Chris Tarrant on the original series of “Who wants to be a millionaire?”.

The later series have lost some of the magic in seeing a cheque being waved in front of a contestant. Another clear illustration of “When only a cheque will do ...”
