Throughout 2017 and 2018, Inciner8 – a leading, international supplier of incineration machines – recorded more than 20% growth in sales year-on-year, despite the general sluggishness of the economy and the concerns over Brexit, with turnover forecasts for the business on target to reach upwards of £12m in the next financial year.

For 2019, forecasts of a further 25% growth for Inciner8 show that for some British manufacturers, Britain leaving the EU does not need to be a major problem.

“There are lots of negative comments about business prospects post-Brexit, but we are most definitely ready for the challenge,” says Vincent Ferguson OBE, chairman and founder of Inciner8.

“Whatever the situation or the scenarios we might face after March 29th, we have the means, the skills and the attitude to continue our success.”

Along with its record-breaking sales in each of the past two years, Inciner8 has also seen a 50% increase in staff numbers; with hires across all departments, more processes brought in-house, and the move to work with more apprentices from local education institutions. This growth in headcount, which now stands at 35 employees, is not expected to diminish post-Brexit and the company is now looking at its next wave of recruitment in order to achieve its growth forecasts.

“I’m a firm believer that when one door closes, another opens,” continues Vince. “We have an incredible workforce in the North West of England, with dedicated staff and partners around the world. They all know that there are lots of great opportunities amongst the changes we are facing.”

Despite the positive outlook on sales and growth, the team at Inciner8 is under no illusion that Brexit does still pose a challenge to business operations, as group head of finance, Andrew Matthews, explains:

“There is always going to be uncertainty in times like this and we don’t currently know how Brexit will impact upon our exporting procedures, or the status of the numerous EU workers we employ.”

“Whatever the outcome of Brexit, we’ll do everything we can to ensure our staff and our customers are fully supported, and financially, we are in the best possible position to do that.”

Inciner8 has manufactured world-class incinerators for more than 14 years and exports to countries beyond the European Union – a total of 180 countries worldwide. Its products span a variety of markets including medical, animal and general waste.

Its quality, British-made products are known for their innovative design, having received two Queen’s Awards for Trade and also Innovation.

“We lead the way with our incinerators, and we will continue to do this through Brexit and beyond. The vast majority of our supply chain is based in the UK – most of it local to the North West – so we don’t expect there to be any impact to production,” added Vince. “We are really excited for the future, and the opportunities it will bring.”
