The Golden LEAF Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center (BTEC) in North Carolina, USA is now equipped with WMFTG’s Quantum pump technology: thereby offering users and trainees access to the latest in pump innovation in bioprocessing technology.

BTEC provides educational and training opportunities to develop skilled professionals for the biomanufacturing industry and create the best-trained, most industry-focused workforce possible.

Designed specifically for downstream bioprocessing, WMFTG’s Quantum pump has been described by an independent consultancy as ’an excellent choice for a range of applications’.

This innovative new design utilises the tried and tested principles of peristaltic positive displacement pump technology but incorporates this into a unique multi-phase single-use cartridge (ReNu SU) that is simple and easy to replace.

The resultant characteristics of the Quantum pump are linear flow control, a high pressure outlet with low pulsation and exceptionally low fluid shear which is important for safe transfer of fragile biological media.

This pump is an excellent choice for use in tangential flow filtration (TFF), virus filtration (VF), and chromatography applications. Quantum delivers flow linearity throughout the 3 bar single-use processing pressure range up to 20 l/min (LPM), leading the market with virtually no pulsation (0.12 bar pressure stability).

Commenting on BTEC’s use of Quantum technology; Alexander Page, District Sales Manager, Biopharmaceutical Division at Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group said:

“Hands-on training that has been specifically developed to educate professionals and students in the bio-processing industry is essential if we are to continue our commitment to ‘up-skill’ our industry colleagues. There is no substitute for real-life experience of using different types of technology – and in this kind of environment, users can see for themselves the process and operational benefits that Quantum can achieve.”
