Polysafe Apex vinyl safety flooring in the Chromite shade was chosen for a 450m² kitchen area which caters round the clock for guests at the 4 star rated, 128 room hotel by the River Shannon. Purchased from Provincial Floorcoverings Ltd, the flooring was fitted by MJ Flooring Contractors in Athlone in four sections to minimise disruption to the daily operation of the kitchen.

Polysafe Apex is a high durability safety floor which provides sustainable wet slip resistance and underfoot protection where there are regular spillages of more viscous oil and grease contaminants. The range is designed for use within high intensity environments in food production, processing and busy commercial kitchen locations serving over 100 daily meals.

Dean Diplock, Head Chef at Radisson Blu Hotel Athlone commented, “The Polysafe Apex vinyl flooring is a vast improvement on the ceramic flooring we previously had which was very difficult to clean and was losing its slip resistance over time, which is not ideal in a kitchen as busy as ours. This new floor has helped us create a safer working environment for my staff which is simple to maintain.”

With a 2.5mm gauge and available in 6 functional shades in a solid base colour, the Polysafe Apex range features a high concentration of traditional safety aggregates within the vinyl and a specially engineered emboss to ensure high traction and sustainable wet slip resistance. With high durability for the guaranteed life and years of performance, Apex achieves an in-situ result of 45 + on the Pendulum Wet Test (4S Rubber/Slider 96) thereby meeting the category of low slip potential in accordance with HSE Guidelines and a slip risk factor of 1 person in a million slipping on the floor. Polysafe Apex also carries an ex-factory R12 rating and fully conforms with EN 13845, the particle based safety flooring standard.

Available in a flexible sheet format to enable ease of coving and working around drainage points, Apex can be welded at the seams with a colour co-ordinated weld rod to create an impermeable watertight finish that ensures improved hygiene protection. This fully sealed solution avoids the potential for cracked grout lines and subsequent dirt ingress.
