FlipPad® protects medical practitioners and patients from the risk of healthcare associated infections (HCAI) such as Norovirus and C-Difficile.

The technology was showcased in the State last October by UK based FutureNova as part of a British medical technology (MedTech) mission and now the company is working alongside Apple to line up a number of major US distributors.

The company is already starting to see sales flood in and is forecasting sales of over $4.8 million from the US alone and $8.5 million before the end of 2017.

FlipPad® is easy to clean with standard infection control sprays and the antimicrobial glass coating provides a solution to minimising the spread of infection.

A second UK company, who also took part in the Medtech mission, has also announced a partnership with a Texan company that will enable patients to receive quicker access to patent centric healthcare solutions.

Mediplus, who specialise in Urology and Anaesthesia products, will work with a growing number of specialist distributors to launch a selection of new products in the US. The products include a pioneering Foley catheter insertion system, S-CathTM System that prevents bowel injuries from occurring.

The transatlantic partnership will include introducing warehousing and logistics facilities in Houston; allowing Mediplus to deliver their products anywhere in the USA quickly and more efficiently.

Having a Texan base will also help the company ensure high quality levels of service to customers across the USA.

Over the last 12 months, there have been three UK Medtech missions to the State of Texas, which have brought over 20 UK companies to the region.

The missions have been organised by the Association of British Healthcare Industries (ABHI) - the industry association for the medical technology sector in the UK - and is supported by the UK government.

UK companies have benefited from introductions and engagement with hospital and clinical leaders including the US military as well as GPOs, distributors and professional business support organisations.

Paul Benton, International Director from ABHI, said “It is so great to hear outcomes like this when UK and Texan companies are working together to deliver better health outcomes for US patients.”

“Texas was chosen for the mission as it is an economic powerhouse. It is the seventh largest health economy in the world and has significant ambition to be a global healthcare and life sciences player over the next decade. We have more missions lined up throughout the year and have a number of exciting projects planned between the UK and Texas. Watch this space!”
