China, the world’s most populous nation and second largest economy, undoubtedly remains a draw for many businesses looking to expand into new, developing markets. In fact, in 2013 just shy of three quarters of a billion pounds worth of goods were exported to the country from the East Midlands region alone. The potential scale of opportunity this market presents is immense though it brings with it some unique challenges. How well prepared is your business to tackle these?

To celebrate Chinese New Year we are holding an evening to help you enter the Chinese market. As well as exploring some of the challenges we will also be giving you the chance to learn a few practical Mandarin phrases to help break barriers on your next business trip. Funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and supported by China-Britain Business Council (CBBC), event highlights will include:

• Specialist advice on obstacles and managing risk when considering trading with China;

• An interactive panel discussion to share issues regional companies have faced in the market and an opportunity to pick up know how on the steps to take to avoid these;

• Expert Mandarin language taster session leaving you confident enough to apply what you’ve learnt with clients and counterparts.

Venue is The Urban Hotel, Grantham on Wednesday 11 February 2015, 5.00 – 7.45 pm
Attendance is free of charge for emita members or £50 plus VAT for non members, including refreshments and a networking Chinese buffet supper.
