In May 2013, and following months of hard work, the company released a suite of high performance sound level meters designed for safety professionals around the world seeking to meet the latest industry standards for occupational noise measurement.

Under the current legislation, employers are required to prevent or reduce risks to health and safety from exposure to noise at work. The Nova range does exactly that and can be programmed easily to meet most global noise regulations (UK, EU, OSHA, etc). Designed and manufactured entirely in the UK, the Nova is truly an exceptional measurement tool. It can perform in any environment and is ideally suited for occupational, industrial, environmental and entertainment noise monitoring applications.

Stellar launch at Safety and Expo Show 2013
The Nova made its first public appearance at the Safety and Health Expo show in Birmingham in May 2013 where it was launched. It quickly got noticed by the Health and Safety community for its robustness, ease of use and impressive looks.

The meter is housed in a die-cast metal case which gives it superior strength and durability compared to its plastic rivals. It holds a high resolution colour OLED display, making it ideal for use in the widest range of lighting environments. The removable preamplifier attaches reliably using a LEMO® connector. Once the measurements have been taken, they can be transferred quickly into a PC using Pulsar AnalyzerPlus software to display the results in various graphical formats.

The newly opened First Direct Arena in Leeds was one of the first to purchase a Nova sound meter to ensure that workplace noise levels are kept within the current health & safety regulations, whilst ensuring the best acoustic and entertainment experience for the audience.

The Nova is now sold in more than 40 countries around the world and is fast becoming the flagship product for the Filey-based company. Distributors and customers alike cannot recommend it enough for its outstanding performance in the workplace. As the Pulsar Nova marks its one-year anniversary, the company will soon begin its next phase with the addition of new products to complement its range of noise measurement equipment.

In the past year, Pulsar Instruments enjoyed a 40% growth and is set to repeat a similar performance in 2014 which is excellent news for such a small team. The company itself is celebrating a milestone in its history this year: 45 years in the noise measurement industry. A huge achievement in itself.
