The Dubai and Russian Abacus businesses have been closed, and these markets will now be serviced via the existing network Abacus Agents and Distributors. The company retains its entire Chinese operation, including its additional manufacturing facility in Shanghai. The company also keeps its presence in Singapore, but with a focus on supporting its partners in the region.

In the UK, the focus is on improving Customer Service and being the supplier of choice for high performance lighting, columns and masts, with significant investment in new products and services already being made.

Steve Lamb, Abacus Managing Director, commented “The UK Abacus business has always been profitable and remains so. Whilst the market is challenging, we have the right products and strategy to see significant growth opportunities in our market segments. Export is a key part of our business and it is important to stress that we are not exiting any overseas market. We are simply reverting to a proven method of doing business which has been very successful for Abacus in the past.

Without exception all of our customers and stakeholders have been very supportive during the recent changes, and this clearly demonstrates the quality and value which Abacus offers”
