The MP500-1 is a new development from Merlin, and may be used as a building block to a full MP521 if required.

The new simulator may be used as a UAV development and control station, or for aircraft design development in its own right, but may also be linked to Swansea’s existing MP521 simulator to fly in the same airspace.

Professor Johann Sienz said ‘The College of Engineering at Swansea University, with its innovative accredited aerospace degree schemes has right from the beginning systematically integrated the usage of the flight simulator in our modern aerospace degree programme provision, and here particularly into the design aspects.

Due to drastically increasing student numbers, Swansea Engineering has now decided to further enhance its provision in this area by purchasing an MP500-1 Engineering Flight Simulator to complement the already existing Merlin MP521 installation.’
