The new BMW plant will produce the BMW X1 and BMW 3 Series for the local Chinese market and covers more than 2 million square metres.

Abacus have supplied over 330 columns and masts ranging from 19metres to 35metres in height. The exacting BMW requirements led to numerous design changes to ensure that the lighting infrastructure was future orientated enabling the development plans and expansions to be accommodated without any changes. Abacus supplied these products direct from their Shanghai factory and were able to provide onsite support during the installation phase.

This new plant is one of the most environmentally friendly production facilities in the world and employs approximately 3000 people. The plant utilises the latest technology to maximise solar and wind power, reducing energy requirements and overall CO2 emissions.

Abacus Sales and Marketing Manger, Zhang Wei said, “We are delighted to have been part of this landmark new BMW facility. Our commitment, innovation and expertise meant that we were able to fulfil all of the strict BMW supplier performance and environmental requirements within the demanding timeframe.

In addition, this installation will benefit the local people and economy of the Tiexi district. Abacus are very proud to be able to add the BMW Brilliance plant to our impressive Global portfolio.”
