Hertfordshire-based darts manufacturer Harrows Darts is building on more than five decades of growth in the UK as it strengthens its global presence with the launch of Harrows Tokyo.

Founded in North London in 1973 and now based in Hoddesdon, Harrows has grown from a small family-run business into one of the biggest names in darts, with around 800 products now distributed across more than 100 countries. The UK and parent business continues to design and manufacture in England, while investing in product innovation, from its Quick Point system and sell-out Fortis dartboard to showcasing its professional player roster. Now the British manufacturer is looking to build further on that success internationally through its new subsidiary Harrows Tokyo, strengthening its presence in the Japanese and wider Asian market.

Japan itself is not a new market for Harrows, as the business first entered the country's soft-tip darts market in the 1980s and has maintained a presence there ever since, with existing Harrows products continuing to retail and remain available in Japan.

Harrows Tokyo sits alongside the established Harrows brand as a Japanese extension under the wider Harrows masterbrand, combining more than 50 years of British manufacturing and product expertise with its own local management, designers and market knowledge. Harrows Tokyo has been intentionally developed with a distinct Japanese identity, allowing its products, design and player partnerships to be shaped specifically around the Japanese and wider Asian consumer.

The latest phase of Harrows Tokyo was unveiled in Tokyo on Sunday 20 September at Nippon Darts Festival 2026, where the business revealed its future plans alongside a capsule product collection. The collection will initially launch as a soft-tip drop, with the UK and rest of the World products to be confirmed before the end of 2026.

Damian Ara, Managing Director of Harrows Darts, said: “Harrows has come a long way from the small North London business founded in 1973. Today we're based in Hoddesdon, we continue to design and manufacture here in England, and our products are reaching players in more than 100 countries around the world.

“We're incredibly proud of the success we've built in the UK, but we've always had an international outlook and there is still a huge amount of ambition within the business about where Harrows goes next.

“Japan has actually been part of the Harrows story for more than four decades. We first entered the Japanese soft-tip market in the 1980s and we have never left, so this isn't about entering a completely new market but instead it's about taking an established presence and building on it in a much more significant way.”

He added: “Harrows Tokyo is an extension of the Harrows brand, and we have deliberately given it its own identity. We didn't want to take a successful British brand, put a Tokyo name on it and assume the same products and approach would work everywhere. It has its own management, designers and local expertise, bringing a distinctly Japanese DNA and an understanding of what players and consumers in that market want, while Harrows brings more than 50 years of manufacturing, design and product experience.

“We’re hugely proud of the team we have at Harrows Tokyo, and the expertise and skill they bring to the table. The launch at Nippon Darts Festival has been a proud moment to launch, with fans already feeding back their support to us and the team on what they’ve created and what they have planned for the rest of 2026 and into 2027.

“We also know there is a huge appetite for Japanese products and design outside of Japan, particularly across Europe and the US. That makes the longer-term opportunity really exciting, and one that the team can benefit from. Harrows Tokyo is being built for the Japanese and Asian market first, but there is potential for products created there to find an audience much further afield. For us, this is about taking everything we've built as a British manufacturer over the last five decades and finding new ways to grow it internationally, while making sure we understand and respond to the individual markets that we're operating in.”

The expansion comes as Harrows continues to invest in its UK operations and product portfolio. Its professional player roster includes PDC stars Dave Chisnall, Damon Heta, Ryan Searle and Luke Woodhouse, while the business is also investing in the future of the sport through youth academies and its NxtGen Harrows in Education programme.
