Flowpoint From Instarmac Group Creates Visual Marvel At Dubai World Expo

The beautiful Pavilions have been designed by world renowned architects and have been inspired by falcon wings, nature, tranquillity and sustainability with one pavilion generating all of its own water and energy. However, the most striking area of the Expo has got to be the Al Wasl Plaza.

Al Wasl Plaza is a ‘visual marvel’ on an unbelievable scale. Over 250 laser projectors work to project images on the surface of the dome creating a spectacular and captivating scene for visitors.

Inspired by the historical name of Al Wasl, meaning ‘connection’, this design masterpiece lives up to its name by connecting three ‘Thematic Districts’ and will continue to link neighbouring hotels and offices after the expositions six-month run comes to an end.

To prepare the area for visitors, consultants AS+GG required durable materials to install 5,000sqm of paving throughout the central plaza. With an extensive portfolio of premium projects throughout Dubai and a reputation for providing superior paving materials, Instarmac International’s partner, Tanseeq LLC, were the obvious partner for this unbelievable project.

Tanseeq LLC supplied UltraScape’s Mortar Paving System to satisfy AS+GG’s requirements and designs. UltraScape’s Mortar Paving System is made up of tested, trusted and proven materials including pro-bed HS bedding mortar, pro-prime slurry primer and flowpoint tropical smooth flowable grout.

Pre-blended for ease of use, pro-bed HS provides the ultimate laying course for all types of paving. It can be laid from 10mm – 75mm, is shrinkage compensated and can be opened to foot traffic in just 12 hours, allowing contractors to move on to the next part of the project quickly.

Formulated to provide an exceptional bond between your paving element and pro-bed HS, pro-prime slurry primer eliminates costly failures caused by general wear and tear and heavy load bearing.

To complete the installation, flowpoint tropical smooth was used in Natural to joint the selected pavers. UltraScape flowpoint tropical smooth has been formulated for use in hot climates and can be applied in temperatures in excess of 35°C – perfect for projects in the Middle East.

UltraScape flowpoint tropical smooth is a flowable grout which allows for large areas of paving to be grouted swiftly. Suitable for joints from 3mm to 50mm and as deep as 200mm, flowpoint tropical smooth has been developed over a number of years to provide a durable finish which will not crack or stain – even in the extremely hot temperatures in UAE/GCC.

With an initial set of just 15 minutes, and a walk on time of one hour, it is unsurprising that flowpoint tropical smooth has been synonymous with fast application, cost-effective and robust jointing, the world over.
