Installed in six phases by Chemineer Express, with no disruption to operations, the 24 Chemineer GT agitators - manufactured with premier, long-life gearboxes, are successfully homogenising fluid streams prior to aeration, as well as ensuring that there is no return flow from the aeration lanes back into the anoxic zones.

Operating 24/7, each Chemineer agitator utilises a 3.5m diameter impeller, rotating at 14rpm. Prior to installation, the Derby-based company provided Severn Trent Water with its in-house CFD to demonstrate the comprehensive mixing benefits of its impeller design.

Andy Mellor, Site Manager for Costain at Minworth, commented: “The new Chemineer agitators are proving a very reliable and efficient part of our newly enhanced ASPs, which now have sufficient space for pre-aerated zones of the process, with liquid depths raised by 300mm”.

Irfan Rehman, Sales Manager at Chemineer, added: “The performance, reliability and longevity of our agitators is becoming increasingly attractive to the industry, with Chemineer able to offer guarantees on all aspects of our equipment, from the gearbox to the seal, the motor and the impeller”.

Chemineer’s GT agitators also benefit from a quick and easy seal change capability that reduces maintenance costs, as well as being highly energy efficient due to an optimized gear design and lighter weight shaft.

Numerous Chemineer agitators have been installed by Severn Trent, including at its Frankley site in Birmingham, where 1600mm Kenics HEVW Static Mixers provide precise blending and dispersion of all flow-capable materials.

Installations by Chemineer Express offer customers a fast, route-one solution to achieving operating performance goals for agitation and mixing processes. Replacement parts and services are available on a timely basis, and customers are also offered the very latest technology to improve the performance of their agitation and mixing systems.
