Since then, over 60 children, (ages 3+) from Pevensey Ward Bognor Regis have taken part in the classes. Pevensey Ward Bognor Regis, has the third highest level of child poverty in West Sussex and is within the top 20% of the most deprived wards in the United Kingdom.

The classes were run by a highly qualified martial arts instructor from Matt Fiddes Martial Arts Schools, a sporting school that prides itself on its ability to engage with young people and increase confidence and self esteem whilst encouraging team building and respect of others. This method has proven previously to reduce anti-social behaviour. The program has certainly made a difference in the lives of those from the Bognor Regis area, both student and parent alike, who participated.

“AMETEK Solartron Metrology is honoured to receive this award,” notes Mark Claxton, Sales and Marketing Director at Solartron Metrology. “We are proud to sponsor CAN and actively promote its fundraising activities, such as the Christmas Fair. We also encourage our employees to volunteer to help when they can in their spare time.”

In appreciation, CAN nominated AMETEK Solartron Metrology in the Business in the Community category of the annual Arun Business Partnership Awards. The Arun Business Partnership represents the interest of business in the Arun District and supports the District Council’s Economic and Cultural Development Unit.
