The treatment plants receive septage / sewage delivered in road tankers from industrial areas, fish markets and domestic households across Doha and the surrounding areas. The contract will provide each treatment plant with complete automated discharge reception facilities including inline process measurement monitoring and automated gatehouse management technology utilising JRP’s UK market leading WaSP solution.

JRP WaSP Tanker reception solutions provide a safe, efficient and controlled management and discharge system for the reception of liquid wastes allowing simultaneous multiple tanker discharges to be controlled and monitored. Discharge data from the facility to include accurate volumes and relevant process parameter measurements will be used to monitor and commercially manage the liquid reception processes for the Public Works Authority. Data will be available locally on site as well as via real time web portal technology customised for the needs of the end client.

Each site is designed with 40 reception lines allowing simultaneous discharges managed via a Gatehouse management system communicating over Ethernet with each WaSP logger. The gatehouse interface is used to automatically control and designate the appropriate discharge bay to each tanker as it arrives. Once preliminary information is obtained and entered via the interface at the gatehouse the tanker operator is then only authorised for discharge at the appropriate designated bay. The gatehouse operator has a real time overview of the facility allowing him to manually override the automated designation and take control of the facility directly.

On authorisation and arrival to the designated bay the operator is presented with instructions informing him how to proceed with the discharge. During discharge the operator can utilise a visual interface displaying the discharge information and any process parameters being monitored in ‘real time.’ On completion of the discharge, a summary of the activity is displayed locally, sent to local SCADA and is also available on the web portal for visualisation, reporting and commercial billing.

The end client will have enhanced control and monitoring capabilities allowing the reception facilities to be closely monitored for audit trail and commercial purposes.

The installation element of the contract, which has already begun has an estimated completion date of Oct 11 and ongoing maintenance and support services will be supplied for the installed infrastructure following completion.

JRP have been providing the WaSP solution to the UK Water Industry for over 10 years and as a result of continued investment and development continue to be the market leader in this arena with over 500 installations in a variety of applications across the UK. Recent interest from international markets has led to agreements in Canada & Australia, as well as increasing interest from the Middle East.

Ian Procko, JRP Business Development Director explained ‘We are delighted to announce this award. We have been in discussions regarding this opportunity for some time and to finally secure the deal and get the project under way serves as testimony to the hard work put in by the team over the last few months. This award in Qatar is our largest export order to date and the future opportunities look optimistic with other projects already in the pipeline.’

This contract also forms part of a longer term export strategy within the Middle East region which has culminated in the development of an Agreement with an experienced Qatar based wastewater contractor to act as Agent in the region.

The Doha based contractor is a respected technology provider and equipment supplier for Water and Wastewater applications and is well suited to provide JRP with local knowledge, expertise and sales / marketing support in the region.

Ian Procko added ‘This recent award and the establishment of a local partner will provide us with the platform to develop further business opportunities in the Middle East. We look forward to many future opportunities together’.
