No electricity, no maintenance and no servicing to maintain tepid water within our emergency tank showers.

Why do I need tepid water?

European and International standards stipulate that the water delivered from an emergency safety shower should be tepid, between 16 and 38 C (60 and 100 F). In hot climates, such as the Middle East, this can be challenging due to solar radiation heating the water within the pipes of the safety shower to dangerous levels resulting in scalding and further injury to a casualty upon activation in the event of an emergency. The Zero-Power Cooling System has been rigorously tested with extreme temperatures and successfully maintains the water below the 38 C (100 F) requirement.

Why should I choose the Zero-Power Cooling System?

Using a tank shower from Hughes fitted with the new cooling system allows it to be used in areas that do not have a reliable power source or water supply, such as well-heads or new exploration sites.

• Perfect for remote locations
• Suitable for hazardous areas
• Retrofittable to existing Hughes Emergency Tank Showers
• Zero running costs
• Environmentally friendly
• Fit-and-forget solution

How does it work?

During the cooler night-time ambient temperatures, the convection process of the passive cooling system draws heat out of the stored water in the tank and reduces the water temperature to safe working limits. During the daytime, solar radiation heats the external exchanger and the water in the closed loop system no longer circulates. This causes the system water to stratify, the hot water stays at the top and cooler water remains lower down preventing the water in the tank heating up.
